Hey there guys, I new to the forum. I've had a Seadoo for nearly 10 years now, but I haven't ridden mine in about 4 years, nor has it ran since then. I was about 12 when my parents bought me and my sisters this XP from the mechanic at out local PWC/ATV store. After a summer of riding, they also bought a two seater Yamaha that we have since sold, but as my parents would usually ride on the boat and my sisters on the Waverunner, the Seadoo was mine. Couple a months ago a buddy of mine got a 96 Seadoo SPI (? Green and purple, mostly white, 600 in it I think) and taking his out on the lake reminded me how much I miss riding mine. Now that I'm 20 and because the thing has been outside uncovered for most of the 4+ years of inactivity, my parents have let me take the thing when I move out. I've never worked on a 2 stroke before but I am very good with my hands and am pretty mechanically inclined. I have taken a bunch of pictures for you guys and am seeking advice somewhere along the lines of "First thing I would do is...". So far I have taken off... the top/forward piece of the motor that seems to carry water to cool the exhaust? Pics will probably be the best explanation, feel free to request any pics and any and all advice is appreciated.
Here she is sitting on a creeper in the garage.
Cracking in the hull.
Right in the front on the keel.
I have plenty more picture but am concerned that the hull has become more brittle out in the sun so many years... so I be concerned with the fiberglass breaking open if I come off a wave too hard?
So where do I start guys!? Here is where I am with the engine.
I tried to get it started once about a year ago... Basically I took out the old plugs, put in new, new gas/oil, new battery, and about a capful of 2 stroke oil in each. When I turned it over, it shot out a bunch of brown water and turned over, however when I put the plugs in the compression was too much and the starter too weak to turn it over, even with a full battery.
