I have a 2 1997 seadoo gtx's. I have an issue with one of them.. When I accelerate, the seadoo Boggs down from 6000rpm to 4000rmp. And when it gets warmed up.. It won't rev past 4000 rpm. I went 2 miles off shore the way there it ran ok but on the way back we had to go 10mph. Once in awhile the revs will skyrocket from 4000 to 5-7000 then back down right away. Has new spark plugs we cleaned the fuel filter. None successful. Please help..

First thing to check is if you have gray tempo fuel lines, they ALL need to be replaced. Once you have done this you may need to pull your carbs off and clean them internally. Your fuel selector should also be cleaned and unobstructed or replaced.

You also should check compression just to be on the safe side.

Instructions for all of these above mentioned things can be found on the forum by searching or reading a shop manual for your ski.

I am sure other members will chime in.

UPDATE! we have taken it to 2 shops specializing in seadoos and both of them say they have fixed the problem!!! but its still bogging down bad... it seems ok when the engine is cold but when it heated up it starts to act up.

we took it to the first shop for water leaks but we also told him to check over everything... I know he did compression and he said everything looked good. we took it to the 2nd shop for the bogging and all he did was new spark plugs and wires, and a general tune up: I don't know the specifics because my buddy brought it to the shop.

Sounds like a rectifier issue to me. Unplug the red wire and go for a ride. If it clears up and runs good replace rectifier

I have the exact same machine in the same year. I had almost the exact same problem also this year and it ended up needing a carb over-haul. It didn't feel like it was carb related but once they where cleaned and the little screens right at the carb where cleaned it ran like a champ.

Unplug the rectifier the next time it happens. Common failure and it directly affects RPM's. And,,, it is a free test...

I am having this same issue. I have new plugs and fuel lines and cleaned out carbs and filters. Where is this rectifier to unplug? I would like to try that.
