I've just got done doing a top end rebuild on a 1997 GTX. I am new at working on PWC's and need a few questions answered. How do I drain and change the oil in lower end of motor? Also, How can I check the cooling system. The piston on the PTO side was fried. How can I check the cooling system to make sure that it is cooling the motor properly?

Best way is to get a fluid extractor that has the little hosed you can feed through the hole and then suck it out.

After you rebuilt the engine you should of tested the cooling system of the engine but doing a leak down test.

As long as your cooling lines are hooked up right and your getting all your tell tails then it means water is running where it needs to be.

Found out why the piston blew out or you'll be getting really good at replacing topends.

I have a 96 that blew the cylinder on the PTO side as well. I think your ski has the 787 in it correct?

This looks pretty simple to change, but i have been wrong before. Any advise? Where did you get the new piston? Do you know the cause?

Thanks
