1997 gtx ecm toast

took seadoo to authorized dealer to have shaft bellows replaced and have lanyard re-coded. dealer call's me back saying the ecm is toast, odd worked fine when it went in. Is it possible ecm fried when lanyard recoded. Also any help on finding new one part # 278001242 cant seem to find this particular # used , would other units work in my ride, Thanks Briso99 hot enough to f---

If it was working... why did you need the lanyard re-programmed?

If it was just to have an extra... I would take the known good lanyard, and make sure it still works. If it doesn't, I would tell them they need to pay for the new MPEM.
