1997 GSI MPEM LOCATION

I bought this GSI new in 1997 (less than 300 hours). Never has any major problems. But now I think I may have a MPEM problem. When is the MPEM located? In box near battery or left side in front of gas tank? Also in the black box near the battery, there is a pigtail that appears to be a fuse of some type. Lots of corrosion in the holder. What is this fuse for?

Mpem is located in the front left side. Rear box has your coil and solenoid.

Bad MPEM? How did you reach that conclusion? What are the symptoms? does it crank and not start? does it run with an intermittent problem of shutting off? Need more information....
