i have a challenger 1800 that runs good on one motor but the other engine ran real ruff.i took head off and noticed broke rings and chip out of piston so i went head took apart. i put new piston and rings and piston pin needle bearing put back together, when i was tuning it over seemed fine. started in and heard clanking right away, seemed to get less and about 10 min lost it all.checked compression bad on same cylinder took back apart and same thing broke rings and chipped piston.so i know rings were on right piston was facing right way.there was little marks on wall but seemed so small so now i bought new kit .5mm over took both cylinders in to get bored and was told have to do something with rave valves looking for some help on what to do?do i cut down where bolt threads in cap.cut down tip of valve ?maybe put extra gaskets on it and maybe what anyone thinks what might have caused it to begin with.thanks to all looking to here from all

Did you pull the engine out, and clean the bottom end? if you didn't... there was probably something down there that broke your new parts.

you sure, the motor hasnt been opened b4, and that, they forgot to shave the raves, then. If not, and opening to .5, you'll need to shave them back some..(.25)

no im not sure if motor has been threw just no there was a new piston and rings put in it broke i got it took it apart put new piston ans rings in it and it broke that one thinking maybe valve is hitting,so i put in the piston put jug on then measure distance between valve and piston?

You will have to take the engine completely apart and go through everything.
