I replaced my gray fuel lines last night, while I was at it I decided to trouble shoot the "always empty" fuel gauge. When I pulled out the baffle I found the magnet had fallen out of the float and stuck to the circuit board. I put it back in the float and the gauge worked fine with the baffle out of the tank. So I put it back together and finished replacing the fuel filter and cleaning the carb filters and the selector valve. Put about 5 gallons of gas back in and the gauge is once again on empty.:banghead:
It was late when I finished so I did not pull the baffle back out to see exactly what was going on but the magnet seemed loose in the float plus the float itself was questionable as to whether or not it would actually "float".
So, my question is, I thought I had seen somewhere on this forum a link to a replacement float assembly but for the life of me cannot find it. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
