Hi
I have a 1996 seadoo xp 787 . It has been sitting idol for 10 months but previous to this it ran fine .
I went to start it and no joy the engine will not turn over. You can here the engine wanting to turn over but no luck just makes a clicking sound. I have tried a stronger battery as well and again no good. I have tried turning the fly wheel with my hand and no good its seized solid.
Am I going in the right direct as I feel if I was to remove the shaft from the fly wheel and stick a nut in the fly wheel and use a spanner to turn the fly wheel would that be a good idea or am I going about this the wrong way. I have some photos of the flywheel and the shaft I am on about taking out.
Your suggestions and ideas would be appreciated
Cheers

Take the spark plugs out and then try turning it over by hand or using the started. If it still doesn't turn then I would spray wd or some type of thing to free it up I prefer kroil but i would if i was you get some Automatic transmission fluid if you had some pour a little not a lot just like 2 or even one cap full of it and let it sit for a hour or longer. Let me know how it goes okay. I'd avoid taking apart the shaft and forcing it before going through all my options.

X2 on the spark plugs.
Remove and try to roll over by hand by grabbing hold of the PTO.
If no luck then you could remove the pump and drive shaft and try to roll over by hand.
If it rolls over then check the starter. (could be bad)
If it still doesn't roll over then your engine is seized and you will need to free it up like mustang said in the previous post.
After you get it freed up run a compression check.

Oh yes good point jhjesse forgot all about it could be the pump. The pump could be frozen wear ring holding up on the impeller could be not making it turn over. Let us know what you find.

Yup always pull the pump cuz if its not the pump the motor is coming out anyways.

I would suggest a teardown if the engine is seized....they typically dont last long when you break them free, and do more damage than if you rebuilt it beforehand.
