Hey Fellas;

I believe I have a MPEM problem! I bought this seadoo not running, & it was suggested that it may be the MPEM. Before I go & buy one How Can I test it to make sure?
- I have a good battery.
- Connections are clean.
- There was a blown 5 amp fuse, which I changed, & still no response when hooked back up?
What else should I be looking for?

Thnx in advance for any & all assistance!!!

The Hoss!

Suggest you get the shop manual for your model. There are detailed and easy to follow instructions for various problems, including MPEMs. I managed to track down a bad MPEM on my model using the manual... my dealership wasn't so diligent and spent 3 weeks trying to diagnose the problem that I had already figured out.

You can buy a shop manual on the net (various spots), but a far easier way might be to upgrade to premium membership - you can get the shop manual that way for a bit cheaper.

This appears to be a common issue and there are many posts on this forum regarding this if you do a search. The guy listed below in the attached email appearently does repairs to correct this kind of MPEM problem.

All I am currently repairing is the 5 amp fuse blowing...

I re-opened the box, & the 5 amp fuse was blown again!
What does this indicate?

locate the rectifier...(yellow 1in sq. looking thing) and disconnect the 2-yellows and red wire from it. See if the fuse pops again. If not, then connect the redwire see if pops, if so, then you have bad rectifier, if doesnt pop, but pops with yellow connected, then you have a short down in stator area...bad wire or metal shavings, causing it to ground out.
