So my seadoo bogs down. Runs fine for a while the. Starts to bog down then runs the. Bogs down so on and on. I do have the grey lines! What's does having the grey lines do anyways? Almost if it's not getting enough fuel or too much fuel. Or not enough air.

It means you are not getting enough fuel, you are running lean, if you continue to run your ski you will toast the motor. You must replace the grey fuel lines and clean the fuel delivery system.

What happens the alcohol in modern fuels, dissolves the binder in the grey fuel lines and spreads a green goo throughout the fuel system. Here's a how-to on the subject.

Seems like this same question is basicly answered once a day, maybe there should be a mandatory thread to read for anyone that enters the 2 stroke portion of this forum. The thread or simple psa should just give a run down of the fuel and oil line issues and the symptoms they cause. I am sure you could add other things that are a must. Like change your pump oil, or never jump start your seadoo. Just the basics, I am sure it would be quite helpful to many.

May save people like loudoo from having to answer the same question day after day. He even pointed out he had grey fuel lines, so he some idea of his problem and may have done some research.

I did do some research but did not find anything on fuel lines just lot of post saying change your grey lines! Just asking why I knew I hade a fuel problem! And yes there should be a must read change grey fuel lines!!...for being a one month owner and first seadoo owner I have accomplish a lot of thing on this fun to ride Seadoos! Without the forum! Being member of other forums I thought to check if their was one. Here I am! I have found many useful post on here that have led me to help fix my Seadoos! And many other information. No need to put new members down! And no need too argue! I'm more mature than that. It was a simple question I made. If you think I need to do more research I will just comment research hint. That's why I thank Lou with a respect!! For going out his way to answer a simple question for a newbie. It would've been different if I hade one year of being a member! That is all. Once again thanks for the info!

+1 At least a sticky on changing lines and making sure you are getting fuel all the way to the carbs. I would be glad to write it up. (again)

We do have a How-To section, and changing fuel lines is always in the top three threads. Personally I think there are too many sections now, that's part of the reason new members get lost. We've tried must read threads in the meet and greet section, these never seem to get read. If anyone has any suggestions I and the other mods. and admins. would certainly be interested.

I also belong to other boating forums, and I would say that this is one of the best organized forums I have seen.

Lou

I was not trying to put you down, I did not know about the lines until I joined this forum. I was simply stating we should come up with something that helps every person that comes to this site. We all came here for answers, I think it is great so many people take time out of there day to help other people and it is great this forum has helped you.

No offense taken, in fact I think I will start a thread in the moderator section, maybe we do need a sub-section in the meet and greet to address fuel lines, wear rings, and other common problems. I also have some pet peeves such as completing user profiles, etc. If we do this I think it should be a read only, after we get members advice, we'll close the threads, and if members have questions let them post in the appropriate forum.

Lou

I'll say it again FLASHING BANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For grey lines and the correct oil would be SUPERB. I don't mean that in a negative way or with ANY disrespect towards new members. No offense Lou, but skip it on the Meet and greet, I think it should be at the top of the 2 stroke boat and PWC sections to help guide new owners before someone flames them and turns them off our great site. Why make new guys/gals dig thru a search to find that they are the two most highly asked questions here. Everyone is here to learn.

I will say, I was laughing hysterically last night about the TC-W3-Meow thread about which oil comes in what bottle. All the time it takes to post that data could have pics and everything right in one thread and guys wouldn't need to second guess each other on the color of the bottle and it's contents and also the reasoning behind the oil.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but after pondering the situation (that's KY for thinking about it), I think we need to revamp the meet and greet section, maybe even change the name to new and newer members forum. Then post some of the more common problems in this section, and after member input and maybe some editing to keep them to the point make the threads read only, close the threads.

Dan, I just got your post, I'm not sure how we can keep the post at the top of the forums, except by bumping them, even stickies seem to get lost.

LOL, it's a computer you tell it what to do, if not just put a bunch of staples in that thread to keep it permanently at the top. I think it should be specific to the 2 stroke sections. I just think guys will over look it there (meet and greet). Picture a long hall way with Sheridan at the end of it calling "Lou", you could pass 10 open door ways with 5 girls in each room--you're eyes ain't gonna wander of the one at the end of the hall ways.

How's that for rationalizing!

Yea, Dan that make sense, it would require IMO and new section like "Common Problems with 2-stroke Ski's and Boats", this might be an excuse to get rid of the 3-D forum, something for which I've never seen the need.

Lou

I looked at that sticky that you linked. Great information. But the title does not say "Change your grey (gray) fuel lines, and here is why" A sticky at the top of the two stroke forum entitled "links to things you must know on a two stroke ski" and then have it filled with the links to all the good stuff. Fuel lines, wear rings, carbs, rectifiers, what the heck an MPEM is, dess posts, etc. Oh yeah, MEOW!

Then the members can politely refuse to answer with anything other than "please read the link sticky posted above" Then if it they followed the above and still have questions, then we can happily help.

Chickenbig,

I want to apologize for hijacking this thread, I'm afraid the original question has been lost. Should you have any questions please just start another thread and we'll be glad to help.

Thanks,

Lou
