1996 gtx when u push throttle goes about 10mph then wont go faster

help I have a 1996 gtx that when I push the gas it acts like its going to go and speeds up to like 10mph then just wont go faster. The engine is reving and it won't go. Then randomly you push the gas and it's totally fine. I happens more often when I am first out on the water. Any ideas what could be wrong or what is going on?

sounds like cavitation, check pump, impeller, wear ring and the carbon ring at back of engine PTO under shroud

Check the wear ring for excessive clearance.


Wear Ring clearance for your seadoo 1.0 mm or (.040in) Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.
