Never really got a good answer. My 1996 gtx goes into limp mode at various times. When this happens you can start unpluging the dess key and after 4 to 7 times the ski will run fine.I have replaced mpem modual, coils ,rev modual, and have carburetors rebuilt. Keeps doing the same.

Limp mode...

It's a 1996, it doesn't have a limp mode. What ever is causing you to loose rpm's, is not limp mode.

Does it ever run strong, then go down on rpm's or is it always running at the reduced rpms.

How about some more info to your problem. When did it happen? What has been done since? How many beeps do you get? Did you or do you get any kind of warning that this is going to happen?.......

1996 gtx

I get two beeps when the dess key plugged in. The problem is mostly an aggravation. The ski runs fine most of time ( 52 mph top speed). thanks

will the ski start and just kinda idle around?
wont go much past 6 knots?or revs up then dies out to slow speed
and after several attempts, of plug and unplug of dess, it would run great
a friend of mine had two 96 gtx's and one did this exact thing
i swapped out the whole electric box and the problem went to the other ski
ok so now i know its electric, i too thought mpem, replaced, no good.
you call it it a rev module, but me thinks its a igntion module. but this too did not fix her, i checked battery voltage and while running and was in excess of 16 volts !!! ah ha! replaced regulator/rectifier and it was the trick !!
this ski drove me mad for awhile and reinforced the practice of check all the basics first, compression, connections, charge output ect before replacing expensive components.
dont really know why it did what it did , maybe excess volts was makin the igntion module go on the fritz, so in closing check them volts .
please let us know , im curious !!!!
good luck mud

Kinda agree...

I kinda agree with he's statement, agree most certainly to checking all your basics first, make sure your rectifier is not bad. But, in the event it is and your way over the 14 volt norm, like 16 volts and run for any length of time, you'd over heat wires and should smell them. You'd also eventually damage the battery and dry out the cells.....
