Just spent $500 to get no start ski going again. Shop said brass gear on timing valve stripped. He was able to get the shaft out without splitting the case! Started right up an revved. Got it home and before taking it on the water, saw pictures of brass residue in bottom of case on another motor on u tube. Called shop and he said would cost plenty to remove motor and split the case. What would happen if I ran it with those chips in the bottom of the case? Did I get hosed?

Definitely wouldn't run it without cleaning up those brass pieces, im surprised that a shop wouldn't fix the problem properly, I have done it a couple times its not that hard to do it yourself, hardest part was taking off the flywheel, but splitting the case is easy just don't forget to put some case sealer on the case so it doesn't leak air, there are some good videos on YouTube. Search sebastian bluecrew I believe he has a video about it, good luck!

Thanks. The guy has a one man shop, and did get mine running. Glad I didn’t take it to the lake and get stranded. I’ll know next time!
