hey guys my 95 xp is blowing the 5a fuse on the mpem, its not doing it immediatly, but it happens after like a couple minutes, on the water, the battery light goes on and then the ski completely shuts down... but it does not happen when i run on the trailer for 20 secs,, any ideas??

thanks guys

Look for a short in the charging system. Try to disconnect the red wire from the regulator, and then try it. Also... pull the power wire from the VTS.

will do, but check this out doc.. i disconnect gray plug from front of engine, put fuse in, no problem,, then connecte grey plug, and the fuse blew.. what does this mean.. stator??

also the fuse has started, blowing immediatly now... so it doesnt blow when grey connector is,, so i know its either mpem stator or rectifier right? how do i test which one it is???

thanks guys

disconnect all of them and the one connected to the back ebox...

I've has this exact thing haunt me and it was the VTS even though it worked when the fuse had not blown...

Well........... since it doesn't blow with the stator connected... that tells me the regulator is shorted out. Even if the stator is bad... the regulator should isolate it from the MPEM.

BUT... since it's now instant... you may have roasted the power diode in the MPEM.

I guess you need a regulator, and check the stator.

ok that helps, so the regulator block the stator from the mpem, got it, so the tregulator is bad for sure. thank you. then we have to check stator and mpem, how do i check if the mpem is ok?

If you disconnect the VTS and the regulator... and it's still blowing fuses... it's bad. (but repairable)

ok guys, here are the new symptoms,

everything connected= blows

grey connector unplugged = no blowing

grey connector pluggged in, with red and yellow wire from regulator disconnected, still blowing

it was not doing this on the trailer, but it happens on the water only, there is about an inch of water in the hull too... any ideas guys?
