O.K. I just got done replacing all my fuel lines, cleaning the carbs, check valve, spin on filter, cutting the plug wires, etc., etc. Now the ski won't start. When I hit the start button, it just clicks in the front of the engine. I replaced the battery, checked the (2) fuses, checked the voltage going from the module to the starter. Everything is o.k. Yet it still won't start. I need help please!

Check the battery cables, both ends, make sure they are tight and no corrosion. Sometimes the corrosion will not be evident, you may want to redo the cable ends and resolder the connections.

Also check the battery, they are not always fully charged when you buy them. Leave it on trickle charge tonight and try again tomorrow.

You should be measuring 13 -13.5v from the battery, but you might not be getting enough current.

Thanks Lou, I'm getting over 13 volts on the battery. I've checked (cleaned) both ends of the cables. The engine starts to turn, but stops. I'm starting to believe the starter has went out. The clicking that I'm referring to is not in the module box. Mine is in the motor itself. When you hit the start button and watch the driveshaft, it turns about 1/4 turn. I can move the driveshaft, by hand, with the plugs removed about 1/4 turn. I'm confused as to what happened. I didn't have a starting problem before I cleaned the filters, etc. Fix one problem, end up with another.

with plugs removed, the driveshaft should turn 360* continuesly, with little/no effort at all. You may have dropped a screrw/bolt down in intake while dismantling.

Starter

You can take the starter out, take it to an auto parts store, and have them test it under load.

It's not a real east job to get the starter out.

If you need a new starter, do not buy a $50.00 starter from EBay. You're better off with a used one or to rebuild the one you have.

seedooya,
I found the culprit. A hose clamp crushed in the rear intake port. Seems that I've damaged a piece of thin metal down inside the intake port that moves when I rotate the engine. Maybe a stupid question, but what is it? How difficult is it change? Should a mediocre mechanic like myself even attemp it? Thanks!

yeah, you can replace it. Its called the rotory valve. You'll need a 159* valve, timed at 147* opening, 65* closing.

Only way to pull the carbs, IS to pull the manifold/rv cover off, so it'll be exposed then. If anything, when removed the manifold, make sure that valve, doesnt come off with the cover. Get a SHARPIE pen, and mark the 2-points, then install new one, there.
