I have recently inherited a 1994 Seadoo Explorer. I had three questions if anyone could help.

1. What is the infltable tube made of and can replacements be bought?
2. What engine is in it and what regular model is it comparable to on the 1994 line?
3. The seats are ripped, any way to reupholster them , preferably pay someone to do this work?

Thanks for any help!

not sure what the tube is... (honestly i've never seen an explorer)

i believe it has a 657 according to my friend google

for upholstery,, try keith @ http://seadooupholstery.com/ keith did my 96 challenger and the prices were shockingly reasonable, not sure if he has patterns that go back to the explorer, he's a member here and several of us have used him, highly recommended.

it took me 30 seconds,, found 3 links with that info, and a few posts with questions relating to the 657...

pm me your email, i'll send you the manual :)

Here's a thread you might be interested in, it has a lot of good information about repairing the tube. You're going to have to repair the tube that you have, unless you have one custom made you're not going to find a new one.

Guy originally bought the explorer for the motor, his had a 720, but decided to fix up the explorer, he put an outboard motor on it. Interesting thread.

The tube is hypalon, same material used on most RIB boats. The early ones came with the 580, but yours might have the 657, I'm not positive. If you're interested in selling it, a neighbor used to have one that I worked on, and they're great fun, I'd be interested In it. If you are wanting to get it in the water, this is the place to ask questions.

How do I tell which engine it is? The 94 is supposed to have a 657. Whats really weird is that it has a bilge pump and a blower.

Here is a picture of it...

Look on the mag. cover on the motor, it should have a plate stating type.

Yeah it also came with navigation lights so you could run at night if you can find an anchor light that fits in the plug at the back, assuming they're still in and functioning.

So weird it is cool. You should restore it. SeaDoo and Kawasaki must have been shooting for the same market at that time because they made the similar and rare JetMate.

I got the motor to run for a few seconds today but I don't know how to hook up water to the Explorer to run it longer. Any pointers?

Thanks!

there should be a flush fitting somewhere, either a funny looking T with a red cap on the cooling inlet line or maybe (like my challenger) there is a fitting somewhere in the back of the hull, look at the water inlet line and see if it T's off somewhere else.

Were you able to download the manual ?

I believe is has the funny looking threaded fitting with a red can on it and I will need an adapter for it.

You really don't need a special adapter, just take a 1/2" washing machine hose cut it in half and connect it directly to the motor, where the hose with the flush connector connects.
