my 12v low came on today. Its been hard to start in the water I think cause of a low battery becasue I put a diffenernt battery in and it started right up. then the 12v light came on on the way home. Does this sound like i need a new stator its a 2000 with 120hr and the stator was recently submerged?

Thanks

Did the 12v. light come on with the new battery? If so and you're sure the battery is good, it could be stator or voltage regulator.

my battery that ive been using is a cheap Gel Battery from amazon. and when that died trying to start it back up after getting gas he came and found me, put a jump pack on my battery switched it for his new Everstart. and It fired right up (ive been having trouble on warm starts thought it was the TPS) it fired up first click. Ive never got the 12v low before till i switched to his on my 15min ride home the 12v came on. how do i test for the regualtor or the stator?

Just so I understand the gist of your problem. Previously you had a hard start situation and replaced the weak battery with a different battery. You then went for a ride, on your way back to the dock / ramp the 12volt low battery light came on.

If that is the case then you will need to look at the voltage regulator as Lou stated. That only requires a voltage meter to measure the battery's voltage at idle.

I do not have a 787 ski but "assume" the battery charging coil etc. is safely behind a waterproof cover. So I would not worry to much about water damaging them at this point. If the voltage regulator checks out Ok then we can go there. However I believe the most likely culprit is the voltage regulator.

And allow me to hedge my bets even more. It is possible that the second battery was marginal to begin with and would not accept the charge.

I run into that problem occasionally on my World Cat with two batteries for each engine, so it seems there are always two that older than the others. :)

Check those battery connections good too. I was about to buy a rectifier to solve the 12vow alarm. Cleaned my connections real good and no more alarm.

Yes, but I know for a fact the stator was under water casue I replaced the stater after i was towed back the other day the hull flooed with water (horrible time) and when i pulled the stater that night a rush of water came out with the stater. but ive been having this hard startin all season before that happened.

So I guess im going to cheack out the regualtor. Which i hope is the problem casue the stator looks like i have to pull the engine.

I put a meter on the battery and reved it up to 5k and i was getting 16-17 volts. so i guess it sounds like the regualtor.

Was the water pouring out when you pulled the starter from the flood (didn't see how it originally happened), or from being towed without the water line clamped?

If the 12 V low code comes on at start up it is probably due to the ski pulling power and tripping the low voltage code. If you get it when the ski is already started and your running on the water check all your connections and test the battery with a voltage tester while the ski is running. If I am not mistaken it should be tested at 5k rpm's and should be between 13-14 volts if its lower than 13 you may have an issue with your charging system.
