I have had a 12v low issue on my 98 seadoo gtx rfi for many years, and on my 99 briefly. I may have found the reason, at least as far as my boats are concerned. The black charging wire coming from the rectifier enters the water box thru a 9 pin connector plug (it’s the only plug connector on the water box). It then goes to a fuse connector. This wire is ultimately what charges the battery. The issue is that the 9 pin plug connector is not up to the task, and doesn’t allow for proper charging. The connector on my 99 seadoo was burnt out, making the problem obvious. The solution is to rerout that wire separately into the case. I used a small brass connector and ran a wire thru it, sealing it with silicone. This fixed my 99 just fine. I have also done it to my 98, but have yet to take it out to verify. It’s plug did not look burnt, but the pins are tiny and I feel it is most likely the cause of its 12v low issue. That ski always ran, but the battery always seemed to be weak. I hope this helps others out there with this issue.
