12 month of rain and sun...

Hi there,
I am new to this forum and thankful that I have found this comunity...
My boat was sitting without any cover the last 12 month in the rain and sun...
now I am done getting all the insects (bees with nests) and water out and can finally "repo" it ;-)
But first question, the gas tank is pretty full and I guess it is at least 3 years old... when does the chemical (?) breakdown starts? Can I still use the gas sitting there, or should I pump it out and get new one?
2) what kind of oil should I use, it is a two stroke, 1998 sportster 1800...
some say synthetic, some say mineral..
Will have more questions, but I dont want to overwelm anyone for now..

Time for a spring cleaning....

The first thing you do is take all the gas out and put it in jugs for your lawnmower, weed eater or chainsaw. Do not burn this stuff in your boat.

Second, ....your oil type is Synthetic. You must meet a few requirements. It must not be an NMMA oil. It must not have TCW-3 on the front of the bottle. It must have a low ash content.

If you don't have a Seadoo shop near to buy their XP-S oil, you can go to Wally World and get the QuickSilver brand of 2 cycle oil that is formulted for Seadoo's. Look on the back of the bottle and it'll say you can use it with your Rotax engine. Make sure you see "Seadoo" on the back!........

They make this oil in Full Synthetic and Synthetic blend. I use the full synthetic.

If you do not know what type oil was in it before, the entire oil system must be drained. ONce you start with an oil, you need to stick with it for the life of the boat. That's the best way to provide a healthy burn in for your ski....

Oh BTW, they do not sell this oil in the boat section. You will find it in the auto section by the gallon. The best bang for your buck is by the gallon........:cheers:
