Hey guys! I just got a 2008 gti 130 se. I took her out in the water for the first time and almost immediately ran over my tie up rope. Doh! It appeared to sick it right thru and cut it. I was testing her out to make sure all was well after I reached up in the impeller and found no signs of rope... just slowly going in circles to listen for noise. No noises! The. She started beeping at me and the display said "exhaust".

I immediately shut her down, thinking maybe it was a temperature issue. When I cranked up to ride again, forward and reverse no longer worked. It could be in forward but would only rev in place and not move-same with reverse.

I pushed her back onto the trailer and took the seat off to see if I could see amdndnything out of place, and I did notice a fair amount of what appeared to be oil now in the bottom of the hull. I'm stumped at all of this, does anyone have an idea what's causing the oil leak at least? Would it be related to the rope incident even though she was doing fine after the rope got eaten?

Now that it is on the trailer, take another look through the grate and from the rear through the tube at the impeller, you may still have line trapped in there. If so, that would explain the "no thrust" issue.

Oil leak,,, Where is the level on the stick now? If it is low, top it off but do NOT over-fill it.. That puts pressure in the crankcase.

Once the level is good, fire it up with the seat off and look for the oil leak. You will not need to hook it up to the hose to run the engine for a minute or less. Even on the hose, 1 minute is the max as well..

Will do those Monday and report my findings. Thanks so much for the quick response, I might just stick around on the boards and learn a thing or two!

You will find this site to be nothing short of wonderful.

rope is definitely wrapped around whatever the grate protects. grate also appears to have broken where the 2 bars come out from the flat piece of plastic. that solves the no thrust issue. havent fired up to look for oil leak, but any speculation on whether it could be related?

You may have to pull the nozzle and or grate in order to get to the line easier. Or the pump itself.

The oil leak can be almost anything. You will have to do as suggested above to get a better clue.

Pulled the grate and cut the rope free this weekend. impeller is spinning as it should. as far as the oil leak, checked the oil level and added 1qt to make the level ful (halfway up the indentation on dipstick.) could not find any evidence of oil leaking anymore after running 1min at a time. Only issue now is EXHAUST P1544 code after running for about a minute on the trailer. I dont have a flush kit so I'm hoping the lack of hose is what's throwing the code. Hope to have her on the water this week.
