Hi my 08 RXP 155 dropped a valve and now needs a rebuild! I was wanting any info from any one that has to rebuild one on how much I cost and what to expect? I've only had it a couple of months and its only done 67hrs :( any help and info would be much appreciated.

new rebuilt head from SD is $1000. sometimes heads can be saved but still expensive and depending on how much it was ran after it happened will determine how much damage was done also to the block but pretty common to crack a sleeve so machine labor and new sleeve will be around $500, new piston and rings $140, gasket kit around $100, other misc items and labor cost to pull motor, tear down, rebuild, and replace around $1500.

you'll be at $3300 before you know it unless you do the work yourself, even then you'll have $2k in it.

Cheers

Thanks for the info, defiantly helpfully. I have been quoted about $4700 to fix with part ill have to order from the US. As that was what it cost to fix another ski that had the same problem.
Where is SD? I have been quoted about 20hrs to do all the work is the a reasonable time frame?

SD=Sea Doo

$4700 is on the high side but depends on how much damage you have. what exactly are they quoting for $4700? rebuilt engine installed?

20 labor hours is about right.

what country are you from? I may be able to help you if you are willing to do some of the work yourself. I suggest taking the head off and taking pictures.

Yeah $4700 is rebuilt and installed. The quote is from a very experienced seadoo mechanic and the quote is for after market valves and me ordering all the part from America.

I'm in Australia and I'm willing to do the work it would just depend on how easy it is to get a new head for the engine and getting the block rebored and if anything else has gone wrong.
