Today My 07 Wake 215 decided to not go above 6500 RPM or about 50 MPH.

As far as I can tell, everything else feels fine. Takeoff is sluggish compared to what I am used to, and it seems to top out and limit itsself at about 6500 RPM.

I rode all day without anything else seeming strange other than that. At one point, while riding straight at 50MPH, the ski had a sudden burst of speed and went above 6500RPM, then quickly dropped back down.

I plan on taking it in, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Im thinking Computer problem?

Your supercharger is definately blown....I would avoid riding until it is fixed because there are a bunch of little ceramic particles in your oil.

You should still be under warranty....so get it fixed. You should also talk to your dealer about getting metal supercharger washers as opposed to the ceramic ones!

Hope this helps.

Wow! 1 month old and this happened already...

I dropped it at the dealer today. Wonder how long it will take.

It is most likely due to your dealer using the wrong type of oil (synthetic oil instead of mineral oil). Do a search of the forum for supercharger washers and you will see what I mean. Call your dealer up and maker sure they are using Bombardier XPS Mineral Oil....using any other is the root cause of the supercharger issues.

I am sure it won't take too long to fix...If I was you I would ask the dealer if they would put metal washers in....mention it too them, I am sure they will know what you are talking about.

DCKD,

The ski was serviced by the dealer about 2 weeks ago, and only was taken out yesterday, and weekend before last.

Would it cause the breakdown that quickly?

I am not too sure about how fast it can happen. The fasted I have seen is 9 hours on a brand new rxp. It really depends....was your seadoo brand new? If not, the previous owner/dealer could have been using the wrong oil as well. How many hours are on it?

Under 20. It was brand new from one dealer less than a month ago. The original dealer attempted to screw me on the promo offer from seadoo, so they are no longer my dealer.

My new dealer did the 10h service about 2-3 weeks ago. It has around 20 hrs on it now I believe.

Im not sure...all I can say is that somewhere along the line someone most likely put the wrong oil in it. I am guessing 10 hours could definately do it....I have only ever seen 2 blown chargers one with 9h and the other with 18h. That would lead me to believe the first one started with the wrong oil and the other got it on the 10hour service....can't be too sure though.

The work will be warrantied if the seadoo is new...so don't worry too much about it. Call your dealer and ask what kinda oil they are using...pretend you don't know what they should be using and see what they say. If you tell them what they should be using they will just say "yup that's the one". If they tell you that they are using something other then the XPS mineral oil tell them that the manual says XPS mineral is all that should be used!

The manual says that all SCIC engines should use Bombardier XPS Mineral Oil I think it is 10w30 off the top of my head (it might be 10w40). I am not sure if other brands of mineral oil cause the problem too....all i know is that synthetic oil causes the washers to break down.

Keep us updated on the progress.

Well, dealer tore it apart, found the exact issue you described. Seadoo is covering the repair, which is going to be a rebuild of the supercharger.

I did do the call and they were very explicit about using the Seadoo oil, so I suspect that maybe the original dealership was possibly using the wrong oil.

They say the parts will take about a week to show up.

Glad to hear your getting the problem fixed under warranty and that you have a competent dealer. They seem to be few and far between.

Did you ask about the metal washers? Maybe suggest to the dealer that instead of using the ceramic ones from seadoo, they order some metal ones. You could pay for the cost of the parts but they would charge the labour under the warranty work. Run it by them....this will prevent this problem for ever happening again.

I personally don't have metal washers yet....my seadoo has been through just about 100h of hard riding so I am getting them put in this year with my winterization.

Run the idea by them and see what they say.
