Over the weekend my 04xpdi ran out of gas. Once out we towed it to the fuel dock and refilled it. Once filled i went to start and it ran for about 10 seconds and cut off. Ive done this numerous times now thinking it just needed to get fuel again. Now that i have it home i cant get the thing to stay running. It will run for about 10-15 seconds then it ends up cutting off. So my problem is i cant keep it running for more then that. Prior to dieing i am able to rev it up fine and sounds great but will die every time after a short time.

What have i done/chcked since the problem?
New plugs
New fuel filter
Compression 125 on both cylinders
Checked all fuses
Added an additional 5 gallons of fuel
BRP synthetic topped off.
Annual cleaning of Rave valves.
Checked DESS key

Is there something im missing short of replacing the fuel pump? Im not one to throw parts at something without having a reason to do so. Hope that someone here may be able to help me out i feel like im missing the easiest thing but i dont know what it is at the moment. The 4 hours i spent yesterday troubleshooting is wearing on me and i really could use a hand.. Thanks!

Wellllllll.................

1) 125 PSI compression is very low. It's time for a top end

Before throwing $$$ at parts... When it dies... is is a "Sputter" or is it like the lanyard is being pulled?

SPUTTERING:

2) What is your fuel pressure?
3) What is your air pressure?

INSTANT:

4) Replace the lanyard post
5) Check the fuses, and electrical connections at the MPEM.
6) What is your voltage? (High or low voltage on a Di, will do all kinds of strange things)

Let us know what you find.

It is a sputter till it dies. Ive just took a quick vid of what im working with. Im able to rev it in the video as you can see but then it just dives off. HTH

I posted a short clip of what its doing but its waiting to be approved my admins so the first post is missing.

Is there a bleeder valve on the fuel rail anywhere? Could it be possible there is air in the system that needs bled and and thats whats causing it to sputter and die after about 45 seconds?

I'm guessing the fuel pump is going bad. (it's weak)

Get a gauge on it, and watch it as it's running. I bet you will see a pressure drop just before it dies.

Ok, i wasnt entirely sure if fuel pumps can act like this, i just always thought it worked or it didnt kinda thing with them. I will get a gauge on it asap and report back. Thanks for the guidance Dr Honda!

Fuel pressure regulator is no longer doing its job, will need replaced. Should have ski back by the middle of next week.
