After running the 4-tec sportster about 20 min. the 'check engine' light came on with one audible beep. Engine RPM's seemed to drop a little and noticed white smoke from the exhaust. Shut engine off for a few minutes and restarted, no 'check engine' light for about 5-10 minutes then same thing over again. Was able to bring in back to launch ramp.
Seems to me a fuel mixture sensor could be failing.
Any suggestions? Which sensors suspect? Maybe something else?
If cheap enough, replacing the right sensor preferable to taking in to the shop.
Not familiar with Seadoo troubleshooting, but presume there must be an error code in memory that a repair shop can extract.

Welcome to the seadoo forum leotis. Yes, the shop can extract the trouble code and repair the 4-tec engine. That engine has 14 different sensors that report problems if there is failure. I'll check the manual and see what I can figure out for you to replace.

4-Tec error code

Thanks Karl, from the online research I've gathered the SeaDoo dealer's are the only place that can extract the error codes from memory.
My local one seems to really stick it to you for the most minor problems.
Guess thats their plan.
Bought this 155hp 4-Tec Sportster used. The only other problem I've had was a rodent of some kind in the engine compartment eating through lots of plastic and rubber. Ate through the fuel line causing gas to soak most of the engine and surrounding area. Thought I had replaced/repaired all plastic/rubber damage. Maybe gas damage to a sensor?

I checked in the manual to see if your model allows you to push the info button to see if any codes appear. I think that is for older models. To my knowledge you need to go to the dealer so they can put the doo on the BUDS system,(Bombardier Utility Diagnosis System). They can read the code and repair accordingly.

check engine

from my research either a
1. manifold air temp.(MAT) sensor.......or
2. manifold atmospheric pressure(MAP)sensor
guess its to the dealer shop one way or another.

Did you ever determine the issue?
If it was either or both the MAP/MAT sensors, do you have the SeaDoo part numbers? My dealer is showing two MAT sensors - one on the manifold and one near the throttle-body.

Thanks!

BTW, I'm seeing a similar issue for the same boat.
