04 RXP Pump Support Fins

The fins inside the intake tunnel in the pump support housing are pretty damaged. How important are they? I am thinking about changing out the wear ring. This pump support is a $150 item. Should I change it too and how difficult is it to remove once I have the pump off?

04 RXP Intake Fins

Should be two photos attached of the intake tunnel. The black fins just upstream of the white wear ring are what I am talking about. Notice the bottom one is just about totally gone and the others are pretty chunked out. I am assuming the wear ring is also pretty bad although the surface where the impeller actually is is not too bad.

Those fins are just to help direct flow.

If you take the pump off... I would trim them flush with the shoe. Otherwise... don't worry about them.

Slipping SC

Thanks, I will try that.

So I am trying to decide if my SC is slipping. It definitely varies in how aggressivly it reaches top speed. When it is cold it difinitely doesn't have the snap. Then just when I am sure there is something wrong it starts to get back to normal, maybe after 20 minutes of riding. I have 100 hours so it's time to inspect the impeller for slip. Any suggestionis, should I just change out the original ceramic washers with the metal or only if they have signs or cracking? Is dissassembly of the SC require special training and tools or can the do it yourselfer do it safely?
