03 gtx valve bouncing

I have a 03 gtx SC and when I go full throtle from idle speed the engine valve bounces ( limits ) for a couple of seconds then it will stop and pick up speed, almost like a car doing a big skid, as if it was loosing traction At full throtle if that makes sense.

If I was to go say 3 / 4 throttle it will pull away quick then I can go full throttle and it won't limit.

Any ideas to what could cause this, I always try avoid limiting as it'll be killing the engine. .

Any info will be most appreciated

Are you sure you're not experiencing cavitation, check the wear ring, carbon seal.

Sounds like the motor is over revving thus hitting the electronic rev limiter. The reason for over revving I would expect is the jet pump is worn out, specifically the wear ring around the impeller as mentioned already, or it may be sucking air from inside the bilge through the carbon drive shaft seal (also mentioned above).

If you plan to perform the repairs yourself, you should download the BRP factory service manual applicable for your model.

Yep, classic symptom of cavitation. Worst case, your prop is chewed up, but it's probably something relatively cheap and simple. Pulling pump is no biggie, just make sure you don't yank the driveshaft out of the motor, as that'll cause a big oil spill. The only reason to pull the shaft is if you need to replace your carbon seal. There is a procedure to doing this without making a mess of your hull, but I'm not sure 100% what all it entails. As the guys above said, check the wear ring first.

The 03 GTX SC had the crappy plastic pump that eats wear rings in no time due to pump flex. You need to swap out to the newer Aluminum pump or you can just change your wear ring every few hours.
