02 GTI wont start in water

Looking at picking up a second jetski and wondered what might be the problem and what should offer for price. Seller says both cylinders have 130psi and tempo lines have been replaced, asking 1500 with single trailer and ski is relatively clean for age including upholstery. What other things should I check or ask about before purchase waitibg to hear if carbs had been rebuilt recently to see if maybe thats issue.

I would check compression myself. That’s a big reason skis won’t start in the water. Not something I would take a strangers word for. And use your own tester. Otherwise it’s carb rebuild time and replace fuel selector . Use only oem for both .

I would never pay more than $500 for a ski that didn't run. Honestly, you should be able to buy it for $1500 if it is running good.

Im going to look at tomorrow he will take 1300 with trailer. Planning on going to test compression myself to see if is 130 as claiming. Hoping in person he is willing to work on price some.

Even at 130 it’s worn. 150 is perfect and 120 is time for a rebuild. Don’t pay $1300.

I'm gonna test first not sure what brand gauge he used for his testing to know how accurate it is and go from there. Any other things to checkout when looking over? Just looking for a second ski wont get that many hours a year. Looking around here have a few 99 gti for sale but they are all asking 2k for them. May end up waiting if compression is that low ans he doesnt want to deal since end of lake season will be couple months so prices will probably start dropping.

Make sure the injection oil is API-TC only if it is green or blue it's wrong.
Check impeller and wear ring for damage.
If the fuel lines are gray the entire fuel system needs to be serviced.
Make sure it has spark and the gauges work.

Thanks he said gray lines are replaced but didnt know if carbs were rebuilt or just line replaced. It runs on a garden hose so spark but havent asked on gauges. Will also take look at oil and wear ring/impeller
