I’ve got a 97 Challenger 1800 that I’ve been working on a couple years. Both top ends rebuilt last year and have good compression. 1 new starter last year. Replaced MPEM with 2 MSD Ignition modules last year. Rebuilt carbs... but used cheap kits and I believe this may be my problem. Runs...
I’ve been working on my Challenger for a couple years now and still haven’t gotten her running well. I’m trying to decide if I should part the thing out or try selling, maybe to a repair shop that parts me out. Any insight? Both top ends were rebuilt last year. Replaced bad electronics with...
Okay okay... I get it... OEM rebuild.
But would an aftermarket rebuild result in a non-running motor? Actually I rebuilt both sets of carbs, using aftermarket kits, and I have the same results with both sets (on the same motor). So I’ve got 2 sets of carb rebuild kits that are faulty to the...
I’m working on one of my 787’s while the other is being rebuilt and I’m wondering if having the fuel lines from the missing motor open will cause fuel pump problems on the other motor? Do the unused fuel lines need to be plugged?
I did use the rebuild thread. I set the pop-offs to 35psi. I did not replace needles/ seats. I tried new and old springs until I got both to pop at 35psi. And no... I did not use Mikuni kits.
The top end of this motor was just rebuilt. That’s how this whole thing started. I blew a ring...
Rebuilt carbs.... still won’t run? I pulled the plugs, covered the plug holes, and cranked her cuz I thought I may have flooded. One of the pistons is blowing a ton of gas/oil out.... carb setting??
Just dropped in a after a top end rebuild and can’t get her running. I’m thinking I may have an issue with my carbs, which I did disassemble and clean up. But not sure where to set the high and low screws. The engine turns over... tries to start... but only fires once or twice and shuts down...
just installed 2 MSD 4255 ignition modules due to a MPEM failure. During my troubleshooting I also replaced the pickup and rebuilt carbs (while waiting for parts). After wrapping everything up I gave her a shot...
She fired right up, for a minute, then stopped abruptly while making an...
I believe the CDI’s are integrated with the MPEM. I was able to swap the ignition “systems” and my “no spark” switched motors. So I’ve concluded that the ignition part of the MPEM for the port side is my problem. I’m thinking of installing a MSD4255 to run the port motor and leaving the other...
I have a MPEM out of my 97 challenger 1800 that I suspect to be faulty on only 1 of the motors. Would anyone have a guide/chart for ohming out the connections? Would anyone happen to know which wires would be controlling the ignition signals? I’ve got spark on one motor and not the other.
