Does anyone have any info on the maintenance/replacement time frame for the zinc anodes on an rxt-x? Also is the one anode installed under the rear plate enough protection?

Not sure what your maintenance manual calls for, but on my boat I replace when real pitting starts just to be safe. Not sure how big they are on yours.
good luck

Anodes

Those anodes are sacrificial anodes. You replace them when they are 70% gone.On older Mercury outboards, they used to be the small trim tab underneath the cavitation plate.Like a small downward facing fin.Make sure they are always 'clean'.No protective spray, paint, grease etc. on them. The ride plate is almost insulated from the rest of the boat so you may want to put a few on the ski in other places. You can get them in a variety of sizes to suit and are cheaper than ski parts. They do help with electrolysis corrosion.Crisso

Thanks for info, and I found the very small anode. Any suggestions where else to place additional anodes on an rxt-x?

thanks

Anodes

The rear plate.Around the jet nozzle. The jet housing. If you are running in the salt water,a few small anodes is essential.Even in fresh water, you do get electrolosis.(corrosion)But nowhere near as bad. Before the ski goes in the water(in salt)give it a good spray with any protect spray (wd40).A new product if you can hold of it is Lanotec.Non-conductive non-everything really,The Navy has now got hold of it.It sticks like shit to a blanket and stays on.Its made from Lanolin.Sheeps wool. There is a few starting to bring it out.The stuff is brilliant,
Any alloy on your ski needs to be sprayed after each run in the salt
Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip! I sprayed the entire inside with Corresion-X HD, I'll look into the product you mentioned. I'll look for a way to place some zincs around the pump housing not sure how and where to fasten them. I've asked BRP for some info on the cooling system any any anodes available for it. I have had two boats and seems like this industry is behind the curve on this issue.
