Well, went to a local dealer (one of two) to get a jug of oil. D1 said it is discontinued. Said I could use synthetic instead.

Called dealer two of two, they had the mineral oil. D2 said they thought it might be discontinued in a year or so, and that synthetic 2-cycle oil would be discontinued in a few years.

Bought two jugs. Kind of makes want to fix the oil tank, LOL.

Anyone heard this?

(On edit, I am speaking of Bombardier branded oil only)

I hope not! but may be a clever way to get you buy a new 4 stroke. i had a dealer tell me literally to get rid of the pos when i wanted my tps reset, i hung up on him.

This is hypothetical:

So I drop $14K on this new sled(see below) that is 2 stroke and you tell me I can't buy the recommended oil for it in 2016 or 2017, LOL yea right. As far as them doing away with mineral, sure sales are probably down since I think all the sleds take either XPS-II or XPS Semi-Syn. So why not make everyone change to syn. I'll be at my dealer tomorrow picking up some parts, if I remember I'll ask. The money is in the consumables.

BRP changed vendors from Castrol to Red Line last year I can't imagine they only had a one year contract with Red Line, but if it's true I'll just got back to what I was using before. Quicksilver PWC API-TC synthetic. I've got a jar in the garage half XPS-2 and half Quicksilver for over 2 years, and they mix so I consider both oils compatible.

Speaking of oil. I was using quicksilver synthetic but switch before vacation to Maxima premium 2. I notice a HUGE difference in the exhaust smoke. Nearly non existent. Plus it has the signature Maxima smell.

I know that BRP discontinued SkiDoo 2 stroke mineral oil. Or at least was in the process.
