xp priming engine

changed the gas lines on 96 xp, and drained and cleaned the gas tank. What is the best way to prime the engine to get gas flowing on the initial startup?
Thanks

First you should also rebuild the carbs with only genuine mikuni parts. Replace the fuel selector and make sure the o-ring on the fuel strainer is perfect.

With fuel in the tank, selector ON and the return line off the plastic wye at the carbs plug the return line and blow air into the tank. You can use your mouth on the vent opening on the rubber hood bumper or low pressure compressed air. As soon as you see fuel come out of the plastic return wye put the return hose on and clamp it down. You have now primed the lines and carbs with fresh fuel.

I would just dribble some premixed gas (not starter fluid as it lacks lubrication) down the throat of the carbs and it should start and pull gas through.

That may or may not do it. You could end up having it burn through that gas you poured quicker than it can start circulating which puts you in a situation where the engine has run dry (no more lubrication).

The way Miki suggested is simple, quick, and safe

Safe unless you spill a bunch of gas in the hull and it goes boom. LOL, don’t let it go boom!
