Hey everyone,
I finally found out why my 96 XP was over reving and it was because of an air leak in the carburetor. Now its time to jet it right though. Right now i have the 1.5 needle seat, 65 gram spring in it, 75 LS, 142.5 i believe for the high speed. The only mods are an impeller which came on it so I am not sure of the pitch and flame arrestor with K&N filters. It is bogging off the line and mid range. Top speed is maybe 25-30 on it and it sounds like it back fires. I tried to order more jets to try messing with it but alot are on back order as well as springs so if anybody has some I can purchase would be great.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Matt

install the 70 pilot jet, and the original spring that was in the carbs

Didyou install the k/n filters? Set the lsa to 1, hsa 0. With filters, keep the jetting same as stock, install filters, turn lsa 1/4 tun, and the hsa 1/4-1/2....then go do plug chop.

yopu have any springs? Plug chop, is run ski wot for about a minute, then pull landyard, and remove the spark plugs.

I am going to see what springs are in my other XP. That one has a blown moto0r so it wont be running for a bit and may just ell it. The 80gram springs are on back order till dec. So I have to go to other dealers in my area to see if they have that and any other jets in stock. I do have 70 LS jets though. Do you have any to sell?

I tried putting all the stock jets and needles in tonight finally and got worse results then ever. The Mag carb is back firing through the carb. Any ideas why? It starts right up but obviously is not right. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end with this. I know its just a simple tuning issue.

check to see if your RAVE valves are okay. It's a simple check, just pop off the covers and see if the rubber is mated properly with the plastic plunger. I had a bad hesitation problem b/c the plunger broke and the boot came off. Make sure the rave valves move up and down freely too. Get new plugs too, I had that cause all sorts of hell with my 800 SPX. Good luck
