Hello everyone. I'm new here in the forum. I bought a few days ago as a project for this winter a xp 1997. My problem with this is that doesnt start. I run the motor but i dont have current in the spark plugs. And in the coil imput there is not current, the CDI is inside the mpem?
Also I'm not sure how to measure the stator .
Fuse ok.
Coil ok.

stator?
Cdi?

Thanks for the help first..!!

I'm assuming that you have an 800 engine.

The CDI is not in the MPEM. Also, you will not see "Current" between the MPEM and the CDI. On the 800, the CDI "Talks" to the MPEM to control it's security system, and the wire between them is only data.

Finally, if the system isn't firing, then there will be no current. Once the system charges, it won't pull any power until it needs it.

On the 800, they do have an issue that the pulse coil will break away from it's mount. Remove the MAG cover, and you may find the problem.

Thanks for reply...
Yes this is a 787.
So i got the manual .. It is more clearer now. I will remove the magneto and ill check the pick up coil. What would be the best way removing the magneto cover?. Placing a support like a wood under the engine?
Thanks..!!

Yes, loosen the front mount, prop up engine with wood block to get the cover off.
The trigger bracket on that model commonly breaks. Vacumn out any metal broken
starter bendix or ring teeth bits. yOU NEED A special tool to pull the flywheel.
