Hello
I'm in search of the part or parts I need for the drive line on my 96 seadoo hx
So far I have the drive shaft, rubber adapters, and snap bushings.
I'm still looking for the PTO clutch flywheel part # 420958066
I have found one of these but it doesn't have the 4 pronged couppler on the back of it.
I was wondering r theas 2 difrent parts?I'm I missing a different part# ? Or is that couppler the same as the rear one?
I'm kinda stuck at the moment so anyone who has any knowledge on these rair skis please share
Thanks a bunch
Kody

I have one from a 95 xp with the 717 in it..they should be the same i would think...if you want it ill sell it to ya cheap

I'm not sure if they are I know the part in a 95 hx is not the same. I looked up the part #s and they are completely different. If you would like to post a pic just to make sure but I dnt think it's the same
Thank you for your feedback tho.

Do you have your old pto clutch flywheel?
Did it separate and spin freely?

I had that problem back in the spring. Minnetonka (sp) and some others have a method of repairing the clutch that will work fine. Some of the folk that race hx's may have one lying around. It takes a while, but you will find one. Just keep asking. Sooner or later, the right person will come along. Search this forum for hx clutch, or hx pto, or any combination you can think of until you reach people who are able to help. Good Luck!!!

the HX and spring seat xp (787, 951) use a coupler and prop shaft to transmit power to the rear of the ski as the engine is in the front of the ski under the handlebars instead of under the seat. the PTO connection for the hx 718 is different than it would be for an x4 hull 718.

thank you for confirming that................ i am not familiar with the hx at all but i fig 717 would interchange

My 96 hx is the 717. I don't know anything about the 787 in a 96 hx... maybe so, but mine is 717, I just changed the engine. I need to look through my old posts and see who had those back in April.

That would b awesome if u knew where to find one. My 96 doo is the 717 also the 787 didn't come stock it was a convertion that a lot of racers did. I'm not positive about the 97 but the 95 has a different PTO clutch than the 96. I think the 96 Is the only year with the finger type coupler that is part of the PTO clutch. Iv been looking for about 4 weeks now and these parts are not easy to find, I'll pay whatever I need to to get my ski back on the water.

Kody, I'm going to refer you to one of my old threads in pwctoday where I actually got a lot of help with the hx pto discussion. Notice that Bill gives a phone number where he may have one at his shop. Also, there is a complete discussion of repairing the clutch if you have the two main parts. The thread is: http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=357455

Also, I have another thread somewhere that has the name of the guy I bought mine from. I took the most worn one he had, and it works great. I'll look for that now. I'll post again as soon as I find it.

Those parts are scarce as hen's teeth. On a very rare occasion, one shows up on ebay, but be careful, most folk don't understand that the 96 hx clutch is different and they want to sell you the one with the splines.. Sometimes you get tempted to convert to the parts that are easier to find. That's covered in the post I just gave you. Later, mike

Kody, The guy I bought mine from has the user name The Wayniac He is a hx racer and generally has parts that he may sell. When we got down to the last straw, trying to find one, someone on the forum said "Ask Wayne, if anyone has one, it will be Wayne..." So, that's what I did. I looked up his user name and sent him a message. In a week or so, I had a working pto. So, track down and ask Wayne. I know he posts on PWCToday, I don't know for sure about whether he posts on Seadoo Forum.

Wayne to me: Tell ya what, it was in my race ski, so rest assured it def won't spin. it does have a couple nicks on the fingers from a few years back when I had a driveshaft failure. doesn't affect performance, I used it for 3 seasons with the nicks. I'll take $60 for it shipped. That's CHEAP for one. I love HXs and i want to help get another one out on the water.

If you want a perfect one, I usually ask $100.
