WTB MPEM 1998 Speedster

Onlyseadoo has one listed for $1500.00 Other options are to try to find it used. right now though I dont see any at the usual places. I have heard of people retrofitting to use 2 individual MPEM's from the skis with 787 mototrs.

If anyone here has knowledge about converting to two MPEMs, Im fine with that. Please let me know. I guess I would need computer numbers and if there is any info out there from someone that has successfully done this that is great.

I traded the boat for a RX that I paid 2000 dollars for. The boat is in great shape. Rebuilt motors, rebuilt carbs and rebuilt drives. Very clean. The boat ran last month. The person hit a wake and it shut off. Then the story gets confusing because he knows nothing about electrical but he dug in anyway. But ultimately I have an old computer that is popped from jumping with a car. I have one that is brand new that he bought but I cant even get a beep out of it. Just a click when the key is inserted. Also the new one has had fuses bigger than factory in place of the originals which may explain part of the problem. The beeper is good in the boat. I dont think 2000 was bad at all for the Speedster. So I just need an MPEM to start things off and see where I am from there. I emailed All Things but no response in almost a week.

Thats a good deal if you can get it going. There have been several people say the same thing happened to there boat after hitting a wave. There was also a couple others who complained of the same thing and for some unknown reason they unplugged the tachs and it allowed the boat to run. No clue why that worked though.

Did you try calling All Things Custom? His number is on here.

Let us know what happens. I try to be very careful with my boat, but these MPEM's are very fragile and I hate the idea of having to spend $1500 if anything ever happens. It would be nice to have a good backup plan.

Was there a key programed specifically for the new mpem that wont work? This could be the reason its not working....using your old key on a new mpem wont work...the new MPEM has to have a key specifically coded for it. Just a thought.

There is a new key. It was supposedly programmed. The trouble is, from what I understand, that the key does not even beep. If you have the wrong or encoded key it should at least beep twice. I do not get a beep at all. Just a click. No gauge movement. If I put the smoked old computer in the boat does one long beep which tells me the key, switch and wiring are all good.

What makes you think the old mpem is bad? If you are getting a single long beep, it is getting power through it. A long beep usually means there is some type of problem. A low battery will do that, a bad ground can do it, or it isnt reading the lanyard. Check all the wires to it and the battery, especially the ground wires.

Do that gauges move when you put the lanyard on? Is the beep as soon as you put it on or when you push the start button?

The old mpem is visibly burned from jumping the boat with a car. One long beep when the lanyard is connected. Not sure now on gauge movement
