Will a 97 GTX mpem fit a 96 GTX?

As the title states. I just picked up a mpem for my 96 GTX but it turns out it's off a 97. I didn't give any money for it yet because I wanted to see if it worked. Thanks

what's the Part #'s. Mpems are accessory specific.

the 97 has the "cdi" built into it, as the 96 hasthe cdi/igniter, up on the inside lid of the grey box....you "could" get it to work, if you need a pic of the inside of a 97 box, let me know....tried doing same thing other day, installing a 96gtx mpem box into a 97gtx, only reason "customer" said forget it, was that a few plugs didnt match up, colors were the same, but he didnt want anything to start cutting

BTW...if you decide not to use the 97gtx mpem, what you want for it?

If I can make it work on the 96 I will try, I don't mind cutting things haha. I compared them today and there are several plugs that are different. I can also get the gauges if those plugs are different. That pic would be great, Bmedlin85@yahoo.com is my email. Thanks
