Heres the deal. I sent my wife to look at two jetskis because I had to work. She thought they were great and bought them. This was 3 weeks ago. Today she hands me a post it that she had wrote when she bought them. They guy said that the board and draft motor need replacing soon. She neglected to ask what these were. I am new to this and do not know if the "board" and the "draft motor" need replacing or if the "board and draft motor" need replacing. Can anyone help? Any idea on what this missed repair will cost me. I am getting ready to start replacing the gray gas lines with black and thought I should do this as well.

Wow, really risky purchase there. I am thinking worst case scenario here. "Board" possibly could be redneck mechanic lingo for electrical board or MPEM. Then "draft pump" could be the jet pump has issues. Both of these could have lots of variables. Does it run, if so any issues?

Rfoster - they both seemed to run pretty good the first couple of times that we took them out. Saturday I started having issues with one. It would take off but never plane out. Could that be the motor? It is like the mixture is out of whack or not getting enough gas. Both have been converted to pre mix

Dave - I have learned my lesson.

Could be a wear ring and impeller issue or any other part with the pump assembly. With the term draft pump being used, sounds like something with a pump. Read up here on wear rings and impeller. Did you at least get them really cheap?

Ended up paying 3000 for two 95's on a custom trailer. Has a wet rack a huge lockbox and buddy bearings. I am starting to think that the trailer is worth more than the skis. Want to upgrade, but figure these are good learner skis. Did I get taken?

dude im just giving you a hard time, your problem could be something as simple as the carbs...or the wear ring....as far as the "board motor and the other thing have never heard of it...if they both start and run your gonna be ok.....replace fuel lines oring in seperator cup, selector valve and pull carbs appart and clean them out, do a pop-off and leak down, just to make sure they are in good shape, clean rave valves...for a start...lol... GET A MANUAL.

maybe the guy told her the starboard jet pump neede to be fixed? I am just grasping at straws here.....Why would you send you wife to make such a purchase???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

 OKAY We are not all guys here!!! :boxing_smiley:

My husband and several of my friends and family don't even consider making purchases of things with a motor without having me look/listen first.

I'm not infalable but I'm definitely not incapable either.

Most women aren't, especially if they take the time to educate themselves.

And we have little hands so we can get to those hard to reach bolts and things. :hurray:

On the other hand maybe she was a little remiss in her information gathering.

Have a great day!

Thanks for taking that as a fun humorous rant. It was intended to be light hearted. So I'm glad you had a fun response.

And thanks for all you contribute to the forum. I enjoy reading your posts. ;)
