95 GTX I have new battery but get NO noise from the starter or solenoid, no turn over no click. Only the slight click from the S-S Switch

What to do?

You can check the fuses on the MPEM... but it sounds like either the MPEM is bad, or there is a short in the wires.

That old of a ski needs the starter removed, cleaned internally & new brushes. The E-box may have moisture in it too. Suggest you take out
battery, pull floor lever to release the E-box and pull back & up to sit on top of magnito houseing to open, starter relay is in there. Removeing the tuned pipe helps to get to starter, but I've used a mirror & bright light.

Last thing you want is to have your Babe on the back and ski not start and be stuck with noone around!

Thanks Guys, Here's the report.

Used an OHM Meter to determine that S-S Switch is Good and the Kill Switch is Good, when I crossed over the solenoid the starter cranks and is Good.

The only thing visuibly Bad was the 5 Amp Fuse which I replaced.

So how do you test the Solenoid and MPEM ??

Did you get the starter out

I did not need to get the starter out because I opened up the E-Box and when I crossed the two poles of the solenoid Mr. Starter cranked like a champ.

I think I need to determine if the Solenoid and or MPEM is working correctly because everything else seems to be checking out OK.

If the two wires plug indicates a signal on your meter, the solenoid starter relay is bad. You by-passed that by jumping the two lugs.

OK, I pulled off the two wire clip from the solenoid and put a volt meter on the wire ends, no volts. I hit the S-S Switch . . . No volts.

I fear the worst . . .

did the fuse blow again in the MPEM? used ones arent very expensive. $150ish

I have 657x but no 657 MPEMs.

Did you activate the MPEM ignition? Also, it only stays on 30 seconds when you put the lanyard on, awaiting the SS. Symptoms say replace the Solenoid. You'll be fine!

Well replaced the Solenoid and still the same, nothing and the 5 Amp fuse does not blow.

I'm going to start a new thread on how to OHM out a MPEM

Thank you.
