For some reason my ski is acting up doing the most random things. It sounds like an electric motor is running when you first put the key on.. but it (electric motor or whatever it is) runs when the key is off it. I can here it priming. Then if i hit the starter button the starter will spin and keep spinning when I let off the button. Its not engageing, its just spinning non stop sometime it will roll the motor over sometimes it wont.. It will chirp and beep long solid beeps for no reason when the key is not in it and when it is and it will run the battery dead if i leave it hooked up. basically it is acting crazy like its possesed.:o

any idea?

My ski was doing what sounds like the same thing yours is. Ended up being the starter relay cost me about 40 bucks and half hour of my time. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I dont recall it doing anything strange if the key was not on the post. But everything is exactly as u described it.

ok thanks man. I found where the relay hides and prior to all this wierd stuff happening I do recall a whole bunch of clicking coming from that box randomly. Im pretty sure you are correct.. Im going to order a new relay. Thanks again, I will post my results.

It would help to post what machine you are working on...sounds like multiple issues...grounds, battery, solinoid, and starter.

before you replace it, take a visegrip and jump the two posts...it will spark and should turn the starter over. Make sure the Bendix engages too....sounds like the starter is working, but the bendix isnt engaging.

You battery needs to be fully charged too.

Take the spark plugs out, it will make it easier for it to engage if the battery is weak.

I jumped the terminals today with a screwdriver and it spins over very fast even with plugs in it. So the problem must be the solenoid.
