new guy new questions ... i have a 2000 challenger with twin 717s and just noticed the jet pumps are different one has a plastic housing the other is metal will this hurt anything the only reason i noticed the diffrence is they used a lot of washers to bolt it to the hull any ideas would help thanks

I could only guess that the metal pump is a old style. The original pump was probably plastic and it was bad so someone put a older model on it. Like I sad this is only a guess.. The idle is somthing you will need to adjust. :)

the brass vane pumps' are excellent. Will outlast the plastic ones, hands down. I feel, you wont lose/gain anything, but the life of it. Only concern i see, is, what pitch impellor came with it, or did the previous owner, install the old impellor into the brass pump?

i really dont know not to up to snuff on seadoo equipment this is all new to me usually work on big blocks and :confused:chevys

If it is not broke

I would not fix it. It should not make too much difference, a pump is a pump although the metal pumps are prefered, the plastic sometimes warp. I have twin 717 in a 99 Speedster SK and both pumps are original and going strong.
