Hi, new member, and potential future owner.

I've owned boats all my life, and know what to inspect when it comes to buying used, but with PWC I have no clue.

I found a pair of '07 Wake 215's with less than 10 hours on them (Family has a boat, didn't use the PWC's as often as they anticipated)

What should I inspect, look for when buying a used PWC?

Thanks in advance!

On a ski that new... just look for any damage. Also... take it out for a test ride. It can run fine on the trailer, but any drive train issues will show up once it hits the water.

Personally, a low hour ski is almost worse that a high hour ski. The reason for that is the seals dry out, and things rust with lack of use.

Doc, thanks much for the reply!

I spoke to the guy on the phone last night, and he said his mom was taking care of the PWC's while he took a job in another state, they've been sitting for over a year!

I've since moved on to looking at new (2009, 2010 models) 155's (I don't want to hassle with the supercharger issues under 100 hours that I've heard are typical on the 215 and up models. I prefer reliability over performance)

Good choice... on both counts. If you get a non-supercharged ski, you will have minimal maintenance costs, and it should run trouble free for years.
