what the hell does SENSOR on dash display mean

hey guys. i recently been getting the itch to ride. so yesterday i went down to pond back jetski in water and started it. then on dash it said sensor... not sure what it means ski seems to run ok.... just thought i would put it out there maybe someone here knows.. thanks in advance

Press the "SET" button (left side handlebar) five times while "SENSOR" is flashing. The gauge will give you a code (P-????). Report back with the code.

Compass out of range

This usually means your compass sensor is bad and needs replaced.

I do not recall where I read it, but I did read there is a reset procedure for the compass. I read that it is a fairly common issue after long term storage. I would think long term would be winter storage.

It had to do with re-learning the compass (aka sensor) so it could figure north again. The compass is electric and does not really use magnetic north as a reference. It is the sensor that figures it all out.
