What Model Year is my Boat???

Wow,

Here comes the stupid question of the year. How do I determine the model year of my boat. I have bought it used, and the guy I bought it from has told me it is a 2003. Now looking at the Seadoo archives, it appears that it may be a 2004. It is a Challenger 1800, white and purple, from what I can tell, there wasnt a '1800' model in 03, and white and purple was the 04 color.

Is there a way to tell?? Im sure there is, but this thing is brand new to me.

the last 2 digits of the hull number is the year. Also, there was an 1800 for '03 and '04, and it looks like both had the same Merc drive, so... it's a moot point if it's an '04 model, if it was manufactured in 03.

Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you if there was a color difference between '03 and '04.

Title

The correct year is whatever is on the title of course, but the actual year of manufacture is another issue. Might keep an eye on eBay listings maybe one like it will show up and you can verify the color.

According to the serial it must be an 03, and i have found some of the 'parts' lids, cushions and such that have stickers from the factory, all seem to have a 2003 reference on it....

The trailer that came with it is a 2004, and there is no title. In Canada, we dont use titles, just a bill of sale. The only time we ever see a title is when we bring stuff up from the U.S.

The trailer has a title since it was manufactrured in the U.S.

You can get the build date from the HIN. The last two digits are the model year of the boat. The next two from last are the build month and year. The first of those is a month code A for January through L for December. The second is the build year. So, G8 would be July, 2008.

HIN: CEC12345G808

CEC - Manufacturer's Code
12345 - Product or Serial #
G8 - Month, year built (July, 08)
08 - Model year
