What is this? (From 2007 GTI 4-tec)

I was exploring a P0116 fault when I discovered this in the bottom of the hull.
Does anyone know what this bolt is from and can it be related to the engine temperature sensor fault?
If you look closely at the first picture you can see it has been broken off.

Follow above link to see what a complete temp sensor for y9ur machine looks like. The picture you posted is part of that complete unit. Now you need to find the wire/connector that holds the rest of it.
