Actually what it does is allow the intake grate to unhook and swing down for weeds to be removed from the jet pump. It sounds good in theory, but sometimes the hinge of the gate will freeze up and not allow the intake gate to swing down or release. You should try it on the trailer to see if it is working properly than trying it in the water where you can't check it to see its working.

I just tried to add a bit more info as only maybe 2 out of 10 of these units still work on the older 96-97 ect jet boats. That handle actually doesn't remove the weeds, it just helps in their removal, by opening up the jet pump assy.

Rodolfogs, you should add your seadoo model and year in your avatar for future questions and problems.

Just saying you can give the handle a pull to get rid of trash and/or weeds in the propellor area...
