took the boat out this mownin':

it's running fine all the time since i bought it 3 years ago: then.....

1)i went boating with the oil light on, been on in the last 2 outings, but when i look at the oil reservoir.there's still few oil left(about 1/2 inch above the surface), and i'm running about 3/4 throttle

2) i came to this part of the lake where there are lots of weeds/it suck up some weeds and for a while i throttle up but boat doesn't plane...i turn of the boat and pulled the anti weed device underneath, start of the boat again and it ran fine//after prolly quarter of a mile,,it stopped,, i start it again and start right up ,and everytime i push the throttle 1/4 up,engine stops, this happened 3-4 times....and finally it never start up again,it turns over but never start up. and engine is a bit hotter, just a bit hotter than before..

Question:
could the reason be case #1(oil issue) and how can i remedy this problem?you think the piston is shot?? if i put oil in the reservoir, will this fix the problem? that easy?

could the reason be case# 2( weeds sucked up and block the water intake?to cool the engine?

please help. thanks guys
