What are these? From 98 GTX Ltd. 947

Can anyone tell what these three little metal pieces are> I had removed my carbs to rebuild them so I thought I would take off the Mag cover because it seemed like the starter was acting up. After pulling the cover I had noticed that the plastic bracket that holds the end of the starter gear had come off and fell in the cover. No damage and everything is salvageable. While cleaning the inside of the mag housing of the block I found two of these metal pieces sitting on the bottom of the housing. After cleaning some more I found another one on the sitting on the black plastic stator pick up . Just touched it and it fell off.
Curious to what these may be and if there should only be three of them? I would like to button the mag cover up but I want to make sure these are need.

Those came from your reduction gear (bendix). Time to replace it.
