Picked up a 01 XP that in photos looked fine...

Entire hull sat with salt water in it for what looks likes MONTHS.

Engine photos coming soon, head is off both pistons are rusted and flaking off, engine paint is all boiled off.

Battery had to be CUT from ski cables.

Exterior looks good, wear ring was gone, impeller fine but nasty from salt water. Didn't test trim yet. I hope to test the MPEM and gauges tonight.

Anyway, I just think it's a damn shame.... my guess is the engine blew or something happened then it sat, full of salt water for months...

So, after a careful assessment of needing new... EVERYTHING... it goes to pieces!

Let me know what you guys want / need and I can go pull it.

wise choice !

hope you paid just a little for it, sometimes its best to just walk away from those deals, i've walked away from quite a few where I figured that the best I can do is waste a bunch of time parting something out just to break even. (i've gotten better at this decision making process over time) when I see something like that, i quickly go into my $200 take it or leave it mode and even then sometimes I regretted paying $200 since I had to waste time finding sellable parts, cleaning them up, listing, shipping, yada yada, and in the end i make $100, my time would be better served watching reruns of seinfeld.

He wanted $1k, I paid $300 for ski and trailer. I wanted to walk, but at $300 figured I'd recoup it. I don't really want to part out any more skis, I had hopes that it was just an engine + carbs (which I happen to have laying around), but after getting it home and looking over every bit... it's just not going to happen...

parting them out (for me) is too much work / hassle with no reward... I brought a '99 GTX LTD back to life, and that was a lot of fun, thing runs so well i'm not willing to sell it!

ONLY issue is it pulls a hair to the left, someone said check the jet pump veins, but it's just my OCD... it starts/idles, and hits 7k WOT and 64 MPH easy. I could toss on a new wear ring and impeller, maybe hit 66 ;)

i agree with part outs, and sometimes it takes a LONG time to recoup your initial investment, and you never get your weekend back either, i'd much rather fix & sell a whole ski but sometimes that just doesn't work.

$300 is a good price, if the mpem works thats $300 right there and you can sell that literally in a day or two. maybe try to dump/save the engine as a core ? (assuming the cases are toast) then if you blow one of your 951's you can send them this hunk instead of your bad engine which we can safely assume is in better shape :)

i have a 787 core sitting in my garage and I can't decide what to do with it.

I have a 787 case in the garage, no one seems to want it.

Yea the engine might work as a core, it is TOAST.

I plan to make a 'how to remove engine' video with this ski, if it helps someone, cool.

lol, how can you edit out the cussing ?
I swear a lot when i remove engines :)
then my brother swears at me cuz he has to come over and help me lift it out, heavy buggers !

you mean a come along ?

i'm curious, that might be a dam good idea, do you just run couple of a 2x6 across two truss's ? bolt into that ?
thats not a bad idea :) I have one of those stored in the attic !

when i googled pull pal i found those land anchor things to drag your truck out of the mud :)

I ran a chain with a hook around the ceiling. Engine isn't over 90 lbs. small S hook between come a long and engine lift point.

Well, it's in rough shape, it would have to be sent to a shop... but I think they could rebuild it.

Make me an offer, but it may cost more to ship than your offer... when I ship a core to SES from harrisburg it's usually around $100 + materials (shipping box, foam, etc).

The MPEM and gauges are look to be in good shape. they did light up when I put a new battery in the ski.

The electrical box has some rust in it, but all the components look like they are in good shape.

I'll be putting stuff on eBay this week and next, but if someone makes me a serious offer that works too as eBay steals almost 10% of my sale...

Is the front wiring loom any good? the one with 2 plugs to the computer and all of the gauge plugs on it?
I also need one of the round black rubber seals from either side of the fuel filler neck, VTS (if its any good), the top hatch cover (carbon fibre look) as mine is faded.
Thanks
Chris

Wiring looks good minus the easily replaceable grounding loops where it meets the engine.

I'll have to remove the wiring and get a photo. I didn't know this ski would generate so much interest, I also don't know how much shipping to Australia would be. (Although I'd love to visit).

"round black rubber seals from either side of the fuel filler neck" ? I'm not sure what that is.

I will remove and test the VTS, one of the cover tabs is broken off so you may want a new 'lid' for it. I didn't get to look inside it yet .

The carbon fiber looking piece appears to be in good shape, some sun fading, but it's not bad at all, I'd say 90% new.

as long as the plugs to the computer are in good condition and the wires that would sit above the exhaust arnt all hard and damaged id be interested in the loom

rubber seals as below (they sit at the front side of the hood opening on the earlier model)

my vts only goes up and it has one tab missing off the cover already lol

would you say it is in better condition that this one?

shipping can be a little expensive but the smaller and lighter the better as always, come for a holiday and bring them in your hand luggage. in exchange you can ride my skis =)

Ok, for the air intakes. Yea I have 2 of those, good condition. - 33 293720036 Grommet $5.00

Ok, so the cover tab thing isn't an issue for you.

It's close, it looks a bit better than that, but I'll let you decide.

If I'm shipping to Australia I have no idea what the rates will be...

1: Grommet $5.00
2: VTS: $125

Most of the VTS systems on eBay also show 1 broken cover tab... I guess people don't know how to remove these things correctly...

MPEM + DESS Key is on eBay.

Engine is out deck lid is off. Hood strut failed, the hood is SO freaking heavy! who knew?! I had to strap it to my ceiling to hold it up!

Removing the VTS gauge and tach gauge - sold
Engine removed - will be putting head, crank, cases, anything usable on eBay next week.

still have: Speedo guage, and fuel guage.
MPEM - on ebay
yellow 'hood'
steering / handle bars / cosmetic stuff / etc.

D*mn, who would have thought just looking at it. Still though, that's a steal.

Why do people adjust those RAVE valves down so much...?

Ahhh.... I forgot that was a 951, although I was not aware of that. When I bought my 97, they were adjusted almost all the way down.
