hi, im new to the pwc world, maybe some of you saw my "meet and greet" post...

i bought a 1996 Xp 800 with some mods, i have a set of mikuni buckshot carbs... i don´t know if they are 45 or 46, a factory pipe exhaust and the guy who sold me this ski gave me a Westcoast cilinder head with domes with the code "BEP-8045" he told me he bought the ski with this head and it was a BLAST! but a few years ago he blew the engine, piston failure, and he removed it... i want to know if i can put this head again and use it normally, or the high compression ratio will blow my engine in less than a month, i read something that says this kind of heads are for Race only cause the engine wont last too much, but i really don´t know if this is real, and how much is "too Much"

Thanks! and sorry for my english

Your English is fine. I personally would leave the engine with the stock head. You're dealing with a 16 year old engine so any thing you do to increase the compression could shorten the engine life, it's hard to say how much shorter the engine life would be. I feel that SeaDoo does a pretty good job balancing performance and reliability.

There are a few things you could do to increase performance and not effect reliability such as an aftermarket intake grate and a new impeller, other than that I would leave it stock. I've always believed if you want a faster ski, buy a faster ski.

hi, thanks, well the engine has 3 years old right now, i also have an aftermaket intake grate, i don´t remember the brand, and the impeller is also changed, it used to be a race Ski, runs well but i have this head at home and... well.. i just want more....

this is the ski... in this picture was in the middle of a look change...

Just because the engine was rebuilt three years ago doesn't make it a new engine, parts of the engine are 16 years old. Was it a total rebuild or a top end rebuild? I know its not a SeaDoo but back in my early years, when I was young and dumb, I installed high performance heads on my Camero, within a few weeks I was doing a lower end rebuild. After that experience I have believed that the manufacturer knows more about building engines than I do. But it's your ski do what you want.

well... are you saying im young and dumb? you don´t know me man... at least have some respect, im not a south american indian who doesn´t know a s*** about engines... i just had a question about that Head on my engine... so please if you just LOVE stock engines, i don´t, so this post is not for you, and you are not answering my question...

thanks and happy new year

Hey Lou, what Camaro did you have. I had a 71-1/2 but they called a 72 RS350.
I added dual exhaust w/ headers, Alum intake and 4 barrel Rottenchester, distributor kit, trans shifter kit. I only added what i could do in one day since I had to drive it for work. .....:)

You asked a question and I answered it, I never said you were young and dumb, I said I was young and dumb, maybe you're right, maybe your English isn't so good. If you don't like my answer you don't have heed it, I thought I was doing you a favor. Since you had already decided to put the West Coast head on your SeaDoo, why did you ask??? Just because you didn't like the answer doesn't make it wrong.

It seems like you're the one who is stereotyping not me. You don't have to worry about me answering any more of your questions, I won't. I'll put you on my no advice list. Good luck with your ski.

SDB, I'll answer your question on the Jake, Lou, Criss thread, I'm not making any more posts on this thread.

Lou
