Check out the "parts" link at the top right of the forum and will tell you all prices for the parts you need. As far as labor goes, anything you let the dealer do will be mucho $$$. Do it yourself, save money, it's pretty easy.

why so much? i just bought two wear rings for 36 bucks each including shipping from ebay. took about an hour each housing. i'd say its about a 5-6 on difficulty scale. Had a harder time removing the shaft ;)

300 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, where are they shipping those things in from, Austrailia?........

Your gettin ripped on that price!

They are charging me 63.00 for the ring and the rest is labor cost. Trust me if I could do it myself I would, but I am about mechanically inclined as a goat.

Um....

Not to be contradictory, (goats are contradictory!) But, goats are VERY mechanically inclined. They are basically engineers. They can plot a course down the hill, hit the side of the barn with their hooves, sideways on the tree, bounce off the fencepost, and BINGO! they fly over the fence!

And on top the car.

And up and OVER the minivan. (With a snort, of course!)

We grew up with goats.

And, when it comes to breeding, they are also quite mechanically inclined... But, we had better stay out of that!

:)

how incline do you have to be?

I'm inclined just enough to me dangerous.
My question is to change the impeller and wear ring do you

a) just pull the whole housing off and go at it from the bow side using the impeller tool to remove the impeller, then remove the three screws on the outside of the housing and remove the ring.
or
b) pull everything off from the stern? ie impeller cover, snap ring, impeller shaft, bearing, o ring and sleeve.

Confused in canada

I would recommend buying a service manual. That will help out quite a bit. I don't know where I would have been without my service manual when I replaced the impeller and wear ring on our RXP.

It is actually a pretty simple job. The potentially difficult part is getting the new wear ring in... but if you have a freezer, that is an easy task. Just stick the new wear ring in the freezer for a bit. The cold will shrink it down just enough to make the installation super easy. I tried getting it in as the service manual describes, but it wasn't happening. The cold wear ring went in easily. Just a tip that I thought I'd share. :)
